Back with another tech post! This post will show how you can enable 4G only on your smartphone. Sorry iPhone users, we don’t post about iPhones here. Sometimes, it is also known as LTE mode. You guys know it right? There are many methods to achieve the same. But first, never install unwanted apps from the playstore. It is harmful. Some of the methods I have explained below, do comment which method worked for you.

1: Dialing *#*#4636#*#*

Yup, it is that simple for most of the phone. Dial *#*#4636#*#* from your smartphone and you should have force enabled 4G. Sometimes it might not work for some phone. In that case, try dialing *#36446337#. This shall work.

After you have dialed this, a menu will appear. This code is a secret code that unlocks many features. In that menu, you have to find the network and select preferred mode as 4G only.

2: Using setting:

Most phone also have the option to change the network mode. So, you can easily enable 4G only. Go to settings and search for Network. Inside Network and internet selection, choose mobile networks and select 4G only. It should work.

For other phones, custom way is shown below:

Samsung Phone:

To activate LTE 4G on a Samsung Phone go to the Settings menu, then tap on the Connections selection. Scroll down to Mobile Networks, tap on it and then tap on the Network Mode. You should see LTE network selections and just pick the one that is best suited for your wireless network.

Google Pixel:

For Google Pixel, go to settings. And the Network & Internet selection. You should then tap on the Mobile Network menu and then tap on the Advanced option. Finally, tap on the LTE selection for 4G access.

Huawei EMUI 8 and Below:

1: Open Play Store
2: Search for Settings Database Editor
3: Install it on the phone.
4: Open and you will see
– System
– Secure
– Global
5: Go to System. Scroll to find hw_networkmode_preference. You will see something like this — “9,6,2,1”. Tap on it
6: Add a comma (,) followed by eleven (11) and tap on Save changes. Your new setting will look like this:
 “9,6,2,1,11“
7: Tap + Add new setting at the top.
8: Key in hw_add_4g_only.
9: Tap Save.
10: On Edit setting, key in your country code – e.g. 254 for Kenya.
11: Tap on Save changes.
12: Close Settings Database Editor app
13: Finally, Restart your phone.
14: Once restarted, go to Setting –> More –> Mobile Network –> Preferred network mode, you will see LTE only option.

Huawei EMUI 9:

1: Open Play Store
2: Search for Settings Database Editor
3: Install it on the phone.
4: Open and you will see
– System
– Secure
– Global
5: Go to System. Scroll to find hw_networkmode_preference. You will see something like this — “9,6,2,1”. Tap on it
6: Instead of adding 11 (eleven) to the list like in EMUI 8 procedure above, all you need to do is delete all and only put 11.Your new setting will look like this:
Before: “9,6,2,1”
After: “11“

I have talked about all the Ramayan and script but why this is useful. Surely, everyone knows that so you have reached upto here. In case you are wondering, this link gives a good idea of why LTE is preferred! Do enable 4G only mode!
