Intro
Finally, a tech post about how to back up application data on android. This post is going to be very helpful for the users who are having difficult time logging in into their account; be it in any app. You know how it feels to lose every progress you have made in the game or lose all your notes or bookmarks you had in the browser. The feeling is disastrous. That can be prevented if you back up regularly. There are several methods available if you search on google. Many will work but they are not 100% effective all the time. By this, I am not emphasizing that they are not a good way. Of course they are great but it just lacks the decisive blow you need to knock out the opponent. You getting what I mean?
How to back up application data on android – the normal way
- Use Android’s built-in backup service: Go to Settings > System > Backup. Make sure “Back up to Google Drive” is turned on, and select “Back up now” to create a backup of your device’s data.
- Use a third-party backup app: There are many apps available on the Google Play Store that can back up your device’s data. Some popular options include Helium, My Backup, and G Cloud Backup.
- Transfer files manually: You can also manually copy files from your device to a computer or external hard drive as a backup. To do this, you’ll need a USB cable and a computer with a USB port.
- Use cloud storage: You can upload your device’s data to a cloud storage service such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive as a backup. This allows you to access your data from any device with an internet connection.
Advantages of backup
So, why am I focusing so much on backup? Most of you might have your own reasons for reading this post. I want to share few other advantages that you might like!
- Protect against data loss: Backing up your data can protect against data loss due to device failure, software glitches, or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Keep data in sync: If you have multiple devices, backing up your data can help keep them in sync by allowing you to restore data from one device to another.
- Save time and effort: If you need to factory reset your device or switch to a new device, a backup can save you time and effort by allowing you to quickly restore your data and settings.
- Avoid having to re-enter data: If you don’t have a backup and you lose data, you may have to manually re-enter information such as contacts, app preferences, and login credentials.
- Easy data recovery: If you have a backup, it’s easy to recover your data in the event of data loss.
- Peace of mind: And last but not the least, knowing that your data is backed up can provide peace of mind and help you feel more secure in the event of a data loss disaster.
Disadvantage of backup?
Well, you can also have disadvantages right? Here are few:
- Cost: Some backup solutions may come with a cost, such as a subscription fee for a cloud storage service.
- Storage space: Backing up your data requires storage space, whether on a computer, external hard drive, or cloud storage service. If you have a large amount of data, this could take up a significant amount of space.
- Time and effort: Backing up your data can require time and effort, especially if you need to transfer files manually or set up a new backup system.
- Data privacy: If you’re using a cloud storage service to back up your data, you’ll need to trust the company with your data. It’s important to read the privacy policy and understand how your data will be used and protected.
- Security: There is always a risk of data breaches or unauthorized access to your data, whether it’s stored on your device or in the cloud. It’s important to use strong passwords and two-factor authentication to protect your data.
- Dependence on backup: If you rely heavily on your backups and something goes wrong with your backup system, you may lose access to your data. It’s a good idea to have multiple backups in different locations to protect against this possibility.

Process of back up
The first thing we need to do is download an application called Titanium Back up. The link to download the application is here. We can also download this application directly from play store.
After the installation of Titanium back up, run it and it will ask for superuser permission. Make sure the magisk manager or supersu is running on background so titanium back up can detect root access.

Simply grant root access to Titanium Backup and we will get the following data/information.

Head back to Backup/Restore section of titanium backup and select the application that you want to backup with its data.

For this demo, I am going to be back up Google Play games app data. Instruction to backup the app data are given below.
